UVI to Close in Observance of Good Friday The University of the Virgin Islands will close on Friday, April 19, in commemoration of Good Friday. Administrative offices and regular office hours will resume at 8:30 a.m., Monday, April 22.
Denim Day on Albert A. Sheen Campus Set for April 24 Denim Day is coming! This worldwide event started in the late 1990s in Italy to protest allowing a convicted rapist to go free, so on Wednesday, April 24, wear your denim to show your support in ending sexual assault.
Come out and talk with representatives from Women’s Coalition and National Guard from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, on the Albert A. Sheen Campus Cafeteria Patio. Remember, together we can do more!

CLASS Public Administrative Open-Door Lecture to Be Held April 17 The Virgin Islands community is invited to attend the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) Public Administrative Open-Door Lecture at the University of the Virgin Islands on April 17.
The event will take place from 5:45 – 8 p.m. in Administration and Conference Center (ACC) Room 142 on the St. Thomas Campus and in the Great Hall Room 134 on the St. Croix Campus.
The invited guest speaker will be Dr. Jason Coupet, an assistant professor of public administration at North Carolina State University. The topic of his lecture centers about the contributions of
public administrative and economic disciplines on understanding and solving public-sector problems.
Opening remarks will be given by Sen. Donna Frett-Gregory.

Community Invited to Reef Fest The Virgin Islands Marine Advisory Service (VIMAS) and partners extend an invitation to the Virgin Islands community to be a part of Reef Fest 2019. This event will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, April 27, at Yacht Haven Grande.
Come out and learn about ways in which you can help maintain the vitality of our U.S. Virgin Islands ecosystems, both marine and terrestrial.
There will be live musical entertainment, raffle prizes, a seafood cooking competition and much more. The event is free. It will feature activities for both youth and adults.

VIUCEDD Hosts its 12thAnnual Autism Conference The Virgin Islands University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (VIUCEDD) will host its 12th Annual Autism Conference on Monday, April 15, on St. Thomas, at the Administration and Conference Center (ACC) on St. Croix, Wednesday, April 17, at the Great Hall. The conference will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days.
This year’s conference is designed to bring awareness to research that explores how music therapy can support cognitive and social activity for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Additionally, an approach for creating an inclusive community that offers support through mentoring, networking and education in the Virgin Islands will be discussed.
The keynote presentation will be “Music, the Brain and Child Development” by Dr. Miriam Lense of Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
There will be two breakout session topics: “The Nashville Approach: Developing Community-driven Expectations of Inclusion” by A. Pablo Juárez, M.Ed., BCBA of Vanderbilt Kennedy Center, as well as “Music and Social-Emotional Well Being: Research and Clinical Applications” by Dr. Miriam Lense of Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
