Open forum: Firefighter Gives Thanks

Rhydel Robinson

Dear Source:

First, I would like to thank God for sparing my life so I could take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to the citizens of the Territory for all the prayers, love and support that have been pouring in during the most challenging time in my life.

Gun violence is a growing epidemic in the world today … but I never dreamt that I would become a victim. For the past 12 years I served a department that saves lives, but on the night of July 28th, my own life needed to be saved. I am more than elated today that I am alive and able to write this note to express my gratitude to all of you.

I would like to especially thank my friend Chad Pringle and the entire A-Team members for not giving up on me that night. To my Director Daryl George and the entire Fire Department in St. Croix, St. Thomas and St. John, your kind gestures, your love and support efforts, did not go un-noticed … you all are my brothers and sisters for life. To my loving mom Mrs. Erma Williams-Thomas, who has been by my bedside since July 28th, Mom I love you…to my Fiancé Patricia — Thanks for your love and support, words cannot express my gratitude. To my St. Croix family and friends here and abroad, to the Aero MD Flight crew, to the entire Medical staff at Juan Luis Hospital, and Ryder Trauma Center at the Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami — thank you is not enough, but I hope you know it’s coming from my heart.

I wouldn’t be alive today had it not been for each and every one of you. Thank you for your prayers, I am recovering and progressing very well, it’s going to be a long road but because of you all – I made it!

Thank you… see you soon!

Yours truly, Rhydel Robinson
