Annual Youth Get Fit Day Health and Wellness Fun Day Set for March 7

Youth Get Fit Day — Health and Wellness Fun Day

The members and coordinators of YWCA USVI Inc. — Y-TEENS VI and GIRLS ON THE GO Inc. invite all youth aged 7-18 years old in the St. Thomas and St. John District to the annual Youth Get Fit Day Health and Wellness Fun Day organized exclusively for children and youth. It will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, March 7, at the Emile Griffith Ballpark in downtown Charlotte Amalie.

It will be a day of sports, basketball and soccer clinics, relay and sack races, outdoor games, obstacle courses, field survival activities, tug of war, kickball, face painting, music and other fun events. Also, several health and wellness mini-workshops by community facilitators will be offered, ranging from nutrition to natural hair care and healthy relationships.

There will be healthy snack preparation demonstrations and a United Way VI-sponsored healthy smoothie station. There will be breakfast snacks that include fresh fruits, and a tasty lunch will also be provided to participants.

A key feature of the day will be a special youth panel discussion on Youth Health and Wellness in the USVI, three years later. Youth participants will explore the continued challenges to youth health, wellness and resiliency as experienced daily in the Virgin Islands. Registered participants will also receive free giveaways from event sponsors.

There is a minimal registration fee of $5 per child/youth for the event. Registration sponsorship is available on an as-needed- basis. For more information on Youth Get Fit Day 2020 or to register, call/text 626-9804 or 643-3446.
