Visitor Drowns at Trunk Bay

A man drowned Tuesday while snorkeling at Trunk Bay, St. John.

Police were called around 6 p.m. and told a drowning victim that was being transported from St. John, USVI TO St. Thomas USVI.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased and his family traveled to St. John where they went snorkeling at Trunk Bay. While snorkeling, the deceased was winded, and as he was being assisted by a family member to get back to shore, he lost consciousness.

Units from the Investigation Bureau met with a family member who identified the deceased as fifty-six year old David Cohen, who was visiting the U.S Virgin Islands from Georgia.

This is the second drowning at Trunk Bay this month. Oct. 2, cruise passenger Guoquiang Wang, 67, also drowned while snorkeling there.
