VIPA Invites Contractors to Discuss CEKA Parking, Transportation Facility Project

Cyril E. King Airport parking lot

The Virgin Islands Port Authority (VIPA) invites local contractors to a public presentation regarding the scope of work for the new Cyril E. King Airport Parking Garage and Transportation Facility Construction Project. The meeting will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 22, in the VIPA Cruise Lounge at 161-A Sub Base, Crown Bay Center, St. Thomas. VIPA officials and representatives of its aviation consulting firm, Kimley-Horn and Associates, will use this opportunity to obtain feedback from contractors before issuing invitations to bid for the project.

The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration recently awarded VIPA two grants totaling $27 million to expand and upgrade the Cyril E. King Airport Terminal on St. Thomas (CEKA) and the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport Terminal (HERA) on St. Croix. A portion of the grant will be used to fund the construction of the new four-level parking garage that will provide 700 parking spaces, and a dedicated location for ground transportation and car rental operations.
