VINP to Unveil Commemorative Marker In Celebration of 60th Anniversary

ST. JOHN, USVI — Virgin Islands National Park

Please join the staff of Virgin Islands National Park and Friends of Virgin Islands National Park in celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Virgin Islands National Park. A commemorative marker honoring Julius E. Sprauve, Laurance S. Rockefeller, and Frank Stick will be unveiled at the event, which begins at 10:00 a.m. on December 13th at the Philanthropy Garden in front of the Cruz Bay Visitor Center. The marker, made possible by the generous support of the Friends of Virgin Islands National Park, recognizes the significant contribution of these three men in the establishment of the park, established in 1956 to preserve the outstanding scenic and other features of national significance found on St. John.

Speakers at this informal ceremony will include Elroy Sprauve, Bruce Schoonover, and Rafe Boulon. Cake and refreshments will be served.

Please contact Dave Worthington at (340) 693-8950, ext. 224 should you have any questions.
