As a part of Veterans Day activities celebrated throughout the territory, the Virgin Islands will take part in the nation-wide commemoration of the centennial of the Armistice that ended the First World War. The parades will honor the 4.7 million Americans who served in World War I and all Americans who served before and since that war, according to a press release issued by the Government of the United States Virgin Islands – Office of Veterans Affairs.
In addition, past and present Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) instructors will be honored as a part of the parades. These instructors have mentored, coached and trained high school students from the mid-1980s here in the Virgin Islands. Every day, they set out to accomplish their mission: “To Motivate Young People to Be Better Citizens.”
“It is definitely an honor to recognize these two distinguished groups of individuals who have invested so much of themselves,” said Director Office of Veterans Affairs Patrick Farrell.
Any past JROTC instructors, who are willing to be a part of the Veterans Day Parade in either district, are encouraged to call the V.I. Office of Veterans by Oct. 22.
