Nicholas D’Amour after winning a gold medal at Archery Tournament in Guatemala

St. Thomian Nicholas D’Amour completed his first-day qualification at the 2019 Summer University Games in Naples, Italy, on July 9, scoring a 303 and 306. His qualification score of 609 ranks him 45th and in a good position to progress through the brackets beginning at 2:15 p.m. (Naples time), Thursday, July 10. D’Amour is matched against Ken Sanchez Antoku of Spain. The winner of that match will progress to the 1/16 round.

D’Amour is the current WA72 record holder in the Virgin Islands with a 640, which he achieved just a few weeks prior at the 2019 Archery World Championships in Den Bosch, Holland. D’Amour will start as a freshman in the fall at San Diego State University, where he will study mechanical engineering.
