I’m writing from up in Connecticut where I have been rehabilitating since being involved in an unfortunate accident in February of 2006. Most of you remember. I was hit by a car while holding my baby. It was horrific.
However, the entire island came to my aid from baby sitting to visits in the hospital to an incredible fund raiser. I wanted to check in and let everyone know that Jack and I are doing great. My legs are much better. Still waiting on one to heal up but the good thing is I can walk. I’m putting my life back together and Jack and I are planning a visit this Christmas.
We cannot wait to see everyone and thank them in person. Right now I’d like to especially thank Michael Beason and Barbara Footer for settling affairs of their friend James. Their help is financing our trip back down to St. John. I would also and continually need to thank Cid Hamling and the St. John Revolving Fund for all her/their help throughout my accident and recovery. Cid has been there every step of the way — even when I myself could not step.
We miss all of our friends on St. John and are literally counting the days until our arrival. Until then…
Sending lots of love and thanks,
Karen Barret and Jack
