STX: Mutual Homes Man Shot and Killed

A 20-year-old St. Croix man was shot and killed Saturday evening at the Mutual Homes housing community, the V.I. Police reported.

The victim was identified as Taheem “Debo” Samuel, a resident of the housing community. It was the 13th homicide on St. Croix since the beginning of the year, the 22nd in the territory.

According to police, at 7:43 p.m. Saturday the 911 call center received a report of shots fired in Mutual Homes area and that a man was down.

At the scene, officers and detectives found the lifeless body, described in the report as “a black Rasta male,” outside of Building 33. He had sustained multiple gun shot wounds to his body. Detectives canvassed the area in an attempt to locate possible witnesses, but did not find anyone.

Police said as of Sunday no motive had been established the shooting .
