Starfish Gourmet and Wines, the gourmet food and wine store under construction across from Starfish Market in The Marketplace, is now scheduled to open in September.

Joe Moulton, whose other on-island business ventures have included The Body Deli and Gifft Hill Grocery, has been tapped to manage the new gourmet store, which was originally scheduled to open in June.

Moulton, whose father was a grocer, grew up in the grocery business.

“Manager Joe Moulton has been working closely with Starfish Market manager Nedra Ephraim and other Starfish staff to ready the site and plan for the opening,” according to a press release from Starfish owner David Mugar’s office.

Enhancing Food Lovers’ Lives
Starfish Gourmet and Wines will offer specialty items, platters and catering services, according to Ephraim.

“Starfish Gourmet and Wines is shaping up to be the ideal  place to shop and experiment with new tastes and flavors,” according to the press release. “With a wide selection of specialty cheeses, frozen appetizers, flavorful sauces, gourmet snacks, hard to find specialty foods and international goods, as well as an expanded selection of wines, liquor and mixes, Starfish Gourmet and Wines is sure to enhance the lives of food lovers across the island.”

Expanding Product Lines
The gourmet store, originally scheduled to open in June, will offer a variety of wines, liquors and specialty foods. The opening of the new store will also free up space for Starfish Market to expand its produce section and grocery lines, according to Ephraim.

“We’ll have room for more snacks, and we’ll expand the brands we carry,” Ephraim said. “We will also have a larger produce section with more variety.”

The new produce area will also offer organic produce, Ephraim added.

The Starfish Market manager is excited about having more space at the grocery store, she explained.

“Of course I’m looking forward to the new store opening,” said Ephraim. “We need so much space, it’s crazy. The new store will free up a lot of space for us.”
