STAR to Hold 36th Annual Founders’ Day 5K for Walkers and Runners

History: 32nd Founders’ Day 5K roadrunners are ready to go

On Sunday, Oct. 13, the St. Thomas Association of Roadrunners (STAR) will put on the 36th running and walking of the Annual Founders’ Day 5K race. Canceled only once in 37 years – in 2017 after hurricanes Irma and Maria — the 3.1-mile event heralds the first race put on in 1982 by runners who then went on to found the St. Thomas Association of Roadrunners (STAR).

On Sunday, walkers will start punctually at 7 a.m., with runners starting at 7:10 a.m. from the Fort Christian Parking Lot. They will proceed west to finish at the UVI Sports and Fitness Center. The course records for the women is 19:06, set by Regina Radazza in 2002. Ethan Kreul holds the men’s record of 16:08:55, set in 2003.

T-shirts or singlets will be available. Ribbons will be presented to age group winners in two age groups, both female and male. Refreshments will be provided.
