Each island is holding a school uniform redistribution drive so that kids who need them can have clothes for the new school year. The drives on St. Thomas and St. John are organized by Parents Matter. The St. Croix drive is organized by Love Our Culture (LOC).
Parents Matter is holding a St. John Redistribution Drive. It is seeking donations of clean, laundered uniforms to be dropped off at Fred’s Place during the collection period of Aug. 10-22, Mondays through Saturdays. Fred’s Place is located at No. 74A Cruz Bay, St. John.
All secondhand items will be available to the public at the specified locations on August 24, while supplies last. The organizations on all three islands are seeking gently used and new school uniform shirts, blouses, skirts, pants, ties, bags, belts, shoes, PE, JROTC and JAG uniforms. Items for all schools are being accepted. Donations of socks, vests and hair accessories must be new.
All items are free; tips are accepted. Items are limited based upon supply, so come early on the 24th. There will be prizes and giveaways. (Must be present to win).
