Rotary Donates Books, Supplies to Schools

St. John Rotary member Kathy Hurley distributes donated books and school supplies to students at Gifft Hill School on Thursday morning, September 13. This year, Rotary will donate dictionaries to third graders and school supplies to first and second graders. First graders will also receive a copy of the book, “The Night Before First Grade” and second graders will receive a copy of the book, “The Best Seat in Second Grade.”

Students at Guy H Benjamin Elementary School, Julius E. Sprauve School and the St. John Christian Academy will also receive the books and supplies. This is the third year St. John Rotary has made the donation to local schools.

“Literacy and literacy programs are very important aspects of Rotary,” said Rotary member Geri Kotas. “It’s a very important focus point for us.”
