Critically acclaimed and locally celebrated chef Ted Robinson last week accepted the position of Director of Deli Operations/Executive Chef at Starfish Market.
Robinson, with support from Starfish Market Deli Manager Doris Bridgewater and Bakery Manager Toby Henry and the rest of the talented kitchen staff, will expand and enhance the selection of prepared foods.
Popular hot deli meals and Chef Ted’s Creations To Go will make Starfish the place to go for fast, fresh, packaged meals on the go.
With more than 20 years experience, Robinson has served as executive chef at numerous restaurants across the country. He began crafting his skills as a culinary gypsy at Harrah’s in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Moving on to Napa and Sonoma valleys in California, Robinson continued to build his experience at Auberge du Soliel, Bistro Ralph and L’Esperance.
In Florida, he created his culinary creations at The Pier House and Little Palm Island, then extended his experience to also include the Celsius Restaurant in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
In 1997, Robinson traveled to St. John and began developing a loyal following as the chef at Paradiso. After more than six years at Paradiso, he branched out to create what would become one of the most popular restaurants on St. John, which he proudly named Tage for his beloved dog, Meritage.
During his tenure as executive chef and owner, Robinson earned rave reviews from both national food critics and locals.
Since leaving Tage, Robinson has continued to share his love of cooking as a private chef in his own highly regarded catering business, Ted’s Supper Club.
Starfish Market, open seven days a week from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., is located on the first level of The Marketplace shopping center on St. John, a short walk from both the Cruz Bay and Enighed ferry docks.
