NPS Announces Maho Beach Parking Lot Temporary Closure

Updated. See Editor’s Note.

ST. JOHN, USVI – Virgin Islands National Park announces the temporary closure of the Maho Bay Beach parking lot for resurfacing improvements, from September 5, 2017 to November 15, 2017.

Maho Beach is a busy and frequently visited area of the park with limited parking capacity. Resurfacing will improve vehicle and pedestrian safety and traffic flow in the lot and on the adjacent North Shore Road.

Runoff from storms will also be reduced. Improvements to the parking lot include leveling and placement of gravel in a permeable grid, and delineated parking and travel-ways to help ensure efficient use of space.

If visiting Maho Beach during this time, please plan on alternative parking, as parking in the area will be extremely limited.
