Nancy W. Corkhill, 76, of Avalon, New Jersey, formerly of Wayne, Pennsylvania, died on Sunday, March 18. She was the wife of Richard W. Corkhill and mother of Douglas Corkhill of Arden, North Carolina.
A 1951 graduate of Ursinus College, Corkhill taught in the Tredyffrin Easttown Elementary School system for 30 years. She was a member of Wayne Presbyterian Church and a longtime former member of the Martins Dam Club. Corkhill and her husband of 53 years reside in Avalon and St. John throughout the year.
The couple started coming to St. John in 1970, and they built a home in Cruz Bay, where they have spent six months of each year since 1993.
Corkhill fought and struggled with Alzheimer’s Disease. Services are private.
