A man was in critical condition and undergoing surgery Tuesday evening after a shooting in Estate Plessen, the V.I. Police Department reported.
According to police, at 7:49 p.m. Tuesday the 911 center received a call requesting emergency assistance for a shooting victim in the rear of the Consumer Gas Station Estate Plessen, Frederiksted. Responding officers found a a black male individual with multiple gunshot wounds to the body. He was lying in the rear of the service station on the ground. His name was not released under a VIPD policy to not identify victims of non-fatal crimes.
The victim was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital by ambulance and was immediately taken into surgery and remained in critical condition as of Wednesday morning.
Police asked anyone with information on the incident to call the Criminal Investigation Bureau at-340-778-2211, the 911 call center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
