Learn Relationships Between All Beings

Letter to the Editor,

I want to thank the Baha’i Faith for its clear statement, appearing on the Tradewinds’ January 8 Classified page:

Train your children from their earliest days to be infinitely tender and loving to animals. If an animl be sick, let the children try to heal it, if it be hungry, let them feed it, if thirsty let them quench its thirst, if weary, let them see that it rests.

Now I would welcome reading statements from other religious groups in our community, to learn what they believe should be the relationship among all beings: Divine, human, and animal.

We know that most of our attitudes towards others are learned within our families and our cultures. And so I hope that all of our community’s religious leaders…who are shapers of culture and teachers of children…are fully aware of the strong link between the way we treat animals and the way we treat other human beings.

I trust that every faith will speak loudly and clearly for the kind and loving treatment of every creature.
