The V.I. Department of Labor is now accepting applications for the Labor Investing for Tomorrow (LIFT) Summer Internship Program.

Now in its 31st year, the LIFT program continues to provide college juniors, seniors and graduate students with meaningful work/internship experience in their chosen career field. Interns are able to gain college credits, acquire hands-on training, and get an opportunity to network with professionals in their respective careers, according to Labor Commissioner Gary Molloy.

LIFT Interns will be paid $13 per hour and are expected to work no more than 35 hours per week for approximately 6-8 weeks. All LIFT interns will be required to participate in a special project, a mentorship initiative and community service activities. Additionally, all participants in the program are provided with Life Skills Management and Career Orientation Workshops, Workplace Preparation Skills and Occupational Safety and Health Regulation (OSHA) training.

Eligibility criteria are as follows: Interns must presently be a college junior, senior or graduate student; they must have a minimum GPA of 2.80 on a 4.00 scale; they must be between the ages of 18 – 25, inclusive. The application deadline is March 20, 2020.

Interested juniors, seniors or graduate students must complete the LIFT application available online at www.vidol.gov. Select the LIFT 2020 Application under the forms tab on the site. Completed application, transcript and a required essay should be submitted to liftvi@vidol.gov  by March 20.
