Doug, left, with Sun Mountain Fiddler and long-time friend Moe Chabuz.

Long time St. John resident, and dear friend to hundreds on and off-island, Douglas (Dougie) Matthew Sica, passed away on March 22.

Sica moved to St. John from his home state of New Jersey in 1979. He bartended at the then-famous Backyard in Cruz Bay for years, before opening Skinny Legs with his close friend Moe Chabuz in the early 1990s.

Dougie, as he was known to many, was a familiar and friendly face at the popular Coral Bay bar and grill he operated with Moe.

Sica’s infamous legs—and signature white knee socks—inspired the bar’s name.

A memorial service for Sica is still being planned, but Skinny Legs patrons, employees and people all over the world toasted his life and dear friendship at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 24.

We will miss you Dougie!
