I wish to share this note with all the St. John Tradewinds readers who read about Judy and Phil Serra’s adoption of “Hawkie” (the starving Hawksnest kitten) in your newspaper:
Dear Anne Marie,
It was so nice to hear from you! What a nice surprise to see “Hawkie’s” story in the Tradewinds. Hawkie is doing very well these days and will be 10 years old this August. Wow. We haven’t been to St. John for a couple of years. The development there has been disheartening, but it still remains one of our favorite places.
I hope Hawkie’s story has inspired others to care for the island animals. Keep up the great work, and we hope to see you on our next visit.
