John Diehl and Nancy Louis took home a beautiful new painting by Kimberly Boulon last week.

The couple, who own Garden by the Sea Bed and Breakfast, were the lucky winners of  Boulon’s “Francis Bay in April Light,” which was raffled off on Friday, May 11, at Kimberly Boulon Fine Art Gallery.

Funds raised through the raffle benefitted the St. John Rotary Club’s The Brain Game project, which will put early childhood educational material in new parents’ hands. The Brain Game is a book created by psychologists and educators which strives to get parents engaged in the child’s development.

The program is already a staple in many stateside rotary clubs and Rotary Club of St. John past president Joan Bermingham has been spearheading the program locally. She will use the funds raised through Boulon’s raffle to purchase books and distribute them to family medical practitioners who will give them away for free to new parents.

Diehl and Louis were thrilled to support Rotary’s Brain Game project and have even pledged additional financial support to the program.

“When we heard about the Brain Game project, we couldn’t wait to buy raffle tickets and donate funds for the books,” said Louis. “We plan to support the program in the future as well.”

The painting, which will hang in the Garden By the Sea common room, also depicts Louis’ favorite beach, she added.

The raffle was one of the highlights of Boulon’s opening reception at her new gallery at The Marketplace on May 11. The evening drew about 150 people who enjoyed snacks from Starfish Gourmet and Wines and sipped on refreshments from West Indies Company while viewing Boulon’s latest impressive works.
