Friends of the Amos and Cindy Rutnik enjoyed an amazing sunset aboard the catamaran Kekoa on Sunday evening, July 10.

Amos Rutnik, 40, died on June 26 from injuries suffered in a car accident in Estate Fish Bay the night before. The Kekoa cruise was a benefit for Amos Rutnik’s wife Cindy and their two children Cristian and Jessica.

Kekoa Black Sail Catamaran owners donated the use of their vessel, St. John Brewer’s provided beverages and Bob Schlessinger of Tropic Focus Photography was on hand to capture memories of the day. Several local musicians also came out to keep the crowd entertained.

The cruise brought in about $4,500 for the Rutnik family and friends are hoping to raise even more funds through the sale of Schlessinger’s photos. Pictures from the sail will be available at Post Net in The Marketplace for $3 for a 4×6 and $5 for a 5×7 with all of the proceeds going to the Rutnik family.

Additional donations can be made to Cristian and /or Jessica Rutnik, care of Cindy Rutnik, 5000 Estate Enighed PMB #192, St. John, VI, 00830.
