Domestic Violence Awareness Month – October Events

Saturday, October 5
Dog Walk to End Domestic Violence
On Saturday, Oct. 5, bring your four-legged friends out for this fundraiser to the Box Bar at Yacht Haven Grande. $25 Registration covers you and your dog and an event T-shirt. If you don’t have a dog, you may walk one from the Humane Society that will be at the event. Registration starts at 3 p.m., and the walk starts at 4 p.m. with an after party at Box Bar from 6 p.m. until.

Sunday, October 6
Mark your calendars for the Oktoberfest Beach Jam at Magens Bay, Shed No. 3, on Sunday, Oct. 6. Come to our beer garden and taste local beers, enjoy a plate of food from our pot luck and listen to great music — all to support Family Resource Center. Bring the whole family out. There will be face painting and games for the children and adults, as well as a massage tent.

Thursday, October 17
Domestic Violence Awareness March and Candlelight Vigil
Join #TeamFRC as we march to put an end to domestic violence in our islands. Volunteers, supporters, school groups, marching bands, law enforcement, politicians and community leaders will assemble at 5 p.m. in Emancipation Gardens. We will pay tribute to the lives lost to family violence and light a candle in their memory. If any organization would like to participate, please contact the Family Resource Center Office at 776-3966 or email: frcdevelopment@gmail.com.

Friday, Oct. 18 (Noon to 10 p.m.) and Saturday, Oct. 19 (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
Shopping with Sparkles at the Havana Nines location in Yacht Haven Grande
CeCe’s Closet will be having a pop-up thrift store packed with clothing, shoes, accessories, jewelry, handbags and more all in new or excellent condition. There are no price tags on anything so you name your price (within reason). Come shop for a good cause. All proceeds benefit Family Resource Center.

Tutu Park Mall Outreach
October Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Our counselors and social workers will be available at the Center Court at Tutu Park Mall to answer questions and offer assistance to those interested. For any questions, contact FRC’s main office.

Family Resource Center Inc. (FRC) (formerly Women’s Resource Center Inc.) is a private, non-profit agency incorporated in 1987 to establish a counseling program and a shelter for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Our services began in 1986 with the opening of our emergency shelter for women and children. Since that time FRC has expanded its services to include all victims of violent crime and families in crisis.
