Oct. 24: St. John School of the Arts Offers Tango Workshop

October 24, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Does it take two to tango? A partner is not necessary to attend a tango class on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the St. John School of the Arts. Alfredo del Olmo, an experienced tango instructor and a native of Argentina, where the dance originated, will be teaching a beginning one-hour class starting at 6:30 p.m. He will be assisted by his daughter Malena. The fee is $10.

There are eight basic moves in the tango, said Kim Wild, executive director of the St. John School of the Arts. Novices will learn some basic steps, and more experienced dancers can develop their style and practice advanced sequences. Wild says participants should “wear shoes that you can easily pivot in — no flip flops.”

For the 2018-2019 season, the St. John School of the Arts will offer a variety of individual workshops, concerts, and classes for community members of all ages.

If someone has an art or craft he/she wants to teach, please call the school at 779-4322 or email info@stjohnschoolofthearts.org.

Keep up with all events by following the school on Facebook or checking out their website at www.stjohnschoolofthearts.org.
