St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands: On Friday, May 4th, at 6pm the Gri Gri Project at Bajo El Sol Gallery in Mongoose Junction, St. John will be hosting the opening of “re·new·al”. Mongoose Junction’s monthly “First Friday” art & music event will be occurring the same evening from 6 pm to 9 pm.
This exhibition, as a follow-up to the gallery’s “Aftermath” show, explores the renewal that nature and society undergo in the aftermath of two Category 5 storms.
This will be the second scheduled “First Friday” art & music event at Mongoose Junction since the 2017 Hurricane season. It will feature performances by the Macislyn Bamboula Dance Company, Inc.
“re·new·al” will feature:
– Woodturner Avelino Samuel
– Painter and Quilter Karen Samuel
– Mixed Media Artist Aimee Trayser
– Painter Kat Sowa
– Painter Angela Warren
The Gri Gri project hopes to remind us that for all the destruction brought by Hurricane’s Irma and Maria, creativity continues to spring up in the aftermath.
The show will run until June 1.
