Due to the tragic storms, Irma and Maria, that devastated the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico last hurricane season, Virgin Islands National Park Service will not be hosting a Folklife Festival at Annaberg Sugar Plantation this year. In lieu of the Folklife Festival, the Virgin Islands National Park will be hosting a smaller celebration to commemorate Virgin Islands history and culture. The celebration will be held at the Winston Wells Ballpark at the Julius E. Sprauve School on March 23, 2018 from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Virgin Islands National Park would like to invite all public, private and parochial students to attend. The celebration will give students an opportunity to participate with different demonstration stations while learning about the various cultural practices, tools, music, and dance of Virgin Islanders. This year’s theme “Some Ah Dis, Some Ah Dah” commemorates the culture from yesteryear brought forward today. Since lunch will not be provided, we are asking students to bring their own lunch to the celebration.
