DPNR Closes Red Hind Spawning Aggregation Area at Lang Bank to All Fishing

On Dec. 1, the DPNR’s Division of Fish and Wildlife closed the Red Hind Spawning Aggregation Area at Lang Bank to all fishing. No harvest of any species is permitted within the delineated boundary of the Red Hind Spawning Aggregation Area from Dec. 1, 2019, until Feb. 28, 2020, according to Department of Planning and Natural Resource Commissioner Jean-Pierre L. Oriol.

Fishing with pots, traps, bottom long-lines and nets is prohibited year-round in the Red Hind Spawning Aggregation Area to protect Virgin Islands resources for the present and future benefit of the people of the territory.
