Dept of Public Works Releases Debris Removal Schedule

The Department of Public Works continues its debris removal mission in the territory this week, December 4 – 8.

On St. Thomas, CERES Environmental, the Army Corp of Engineers’ selected contractor, will collect debris from the following areas this week:

  • Contant Knolls
  • Old Tutu
  • Lower Contant
  • Dorothea
  • Bolongo/Nazareth
  • Frydenhoj
  • Hidden Valley
  • Smith Bay
  • Wintberg
  • Hull Bay
  • New Tutu/Valley

On St. Croix, crews are working by zones. Each contractor is responsible for all the neighborhoods within their assigned zone. A detailed listing of when crews will be in specific areas will be forthcoming.

On St. John, crews are working in the following areas:

  • Coral Bay
  • Northshore Road
  • Francis Bay
  • Great Cruz Bay
  • Fish Bay
  • Sirenusa

Public Works Commissioner Nominee Nelson Petty, Jr. explained, “Debris is separated into three categories: vegetative, C&D (furniture, construction, etc.) and white goods. Please separate your debris before placing it on the curbside, and refrain from leaving household waste mixed in with your debris, as it slows the debris collection process.”

The Department of Public Works appreciates the community’s patience as they work to remove all debris from the territory.
