Dept. of Human Services Consolidates D-SNAP Sites and Operations

D-SNAP sites will be consolidated throughout the territory, according to a press release from the V.I. Department of Human Services.

Commissioner Blyden stated, “After careful review of our operations, the Department of Human Services will begin adjusting components of the program to improve overall efficiency. Effective Thursday, November 16 until Saturday, November 18, 2017, there will be a total of three D-SNAP sites in the Virgin Islands.

The site on St. Croix will be at the DHS Mars Hill offices in Frederiksted; on St. Thomas it will be the Tutu Park Mall; on St. John it will be at the DHS Multipurpose Center in Cruz Bay. The times of site operations will remain from 7 am until 6 pm, then on Saturday, November 18 the sites will operate 8 am until 1 pm,” said DHS Commissioner Felecia L. Blyden.

Territory-wide, the Department has processed a total of 15,157 D-SNAP applications. There have been 13, 670 presumptive eligible applicants, and 1,487 ineligible applicants.  While the D-SNAP sites have been consolidated, the department encourages residents to continue to come to apply for benefits prior to the last day of operation. Applicants may also call (340) 715-4960 for further assistance.

“We continue to maintain that the feeding needs of residents must be met. It is the underlying goal of D-SNAP, and it is also our priority,” said Blyden.

The Department of Human Services reminds D-SNAP applicants of the following:

Residents are encouraged to apply for D-SNAP benefits at their respective locations by November 18, 2017.
