The Office of Vital Records and Statistics has announced it has changed its regular office hours and now offers services to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The new public schedule will permit staff to work more efficiently during non-public time as the general work hours for staff will remain Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is anticipated that by creating non-public office hours the time frame required to process and release birth certificates will be shortened.
As usual, during the new schedule, clients may apply for and receive birth and death certificates, and take advantage of other services that the V.I. Department of Health’s Office of Vital Records and Statistics makes available to the public, such as record amendment and establishment of paternity.
The expected turn-around time for certificates and other documents is currently two weeks. However, the public is advised that by filling out the forms precisely and accurately, wait time, due to having to verify and re-check information, can be significantly shortened.
The public is asked to be patient and bear with the Office of Vital Records as it takes these new measures to improve service to customers. Do not hesitate to contact the office if there are any questions.
