Department of Education to Hold 2020 Territorial Spelling Bee March 11

Top 6 winners of recent St. Thomas-St. John District Spelling Bee

The Virgin Islands Department of Education’s 47th Annual Territorial Spelling Bee will be held at 10 a.m. on March 11 at the Charlotte Amalie High School Ruth E. Thomas Auditorium.

The top six spellers from each district will compete for a chance to be named the territory’s top speller. The winner will represent the Virgin Islands at the Scripps National Spelling Bee, May 24-29, in the Washington, D.C. area.

Top 6 winners of recent St. Croix District Spelling Bee

The top six spellers in the St. Croix District participating in the Territorial Bee are Michael Atwell, 8th grade, Good Hope Country Day; Kalyn Blackwood, 6th grade, Ricardo Richards; Briana Cruz, 7th grade, John H. Woodson Jr. High; Jahnyah Greenidge, 6th grade, Juanita Gardine K-8 School; Caiden Rivera, 6th grade, St. Patrick’s Catholic School; and Carl Consulta, 5th grade, Alfredo Andrews Elementary School.

The top six spellers in the St. Thomas-St. John District participating in the Territorial Bee are Priya Giyanani, 8th grade, Antilles School; Diana Esprit, Sts. Peter and Paul School; Radz Daytic, Yvonne Milliner-Bowsky Elementary School; V’Marie Rochester, Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School; Daniel Nganga, St. Thomas Christian Academy; and Agnes Bellot, Wesleyan Academy.
