The Virgin Islands Department of Education informs the public of four additional dates in January when its schools and administrative offices will be closed.

All public schools and administrative offices in the St. Croix District (only) will be closed for staff and students to attend funeral services for Assistant Education Commissioner Maria Encarnacion, who passed away on Dec. 21, 2019. The viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Christiansted.

Administrative offices in the St. Thomas-St. John District (only) will close at 4 p.m. so staff members may attend a memorial service for Assistant Education Commissioner Maria Encarnacion at Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral in Charlotte Amalie. The service will begin at 4:30 p.m.
