Centennial Event Planning Meeting To Be Held Thursday Feb. 9

Using Sport For Social Change (USFSC), in conjunction with the St. John Community Foundation and the St. John Department of Sports, Parks and Recreation, announces the following planned meeting:

On February 9th, an informational round table will be held from 7:00pm-9:00pm, at the St. John Parks and Recs building to start planning the St. John Centennial Event. A moment of your time is all that is needed and you don’t have to be there for the full time. Whether its your positive input, know-how, or just want to lend a hand before, during or after this event, we would love to hear from you! If you are unable to attend this meeting but would like to meet with us personally, please email islandsun40@yahoo.com.

This Centennial event, as with the “Just Play” event is all volunteer driven and funded by sponsors such as yourself. We continue to look for unique opportunities for St. Johnian’s to give back to this beautiful island while gaining exposure for themselves, whether its a donation of time, talent, hard goods or donation dollars, everything helps.

With the support of St. John Community Foundation and the St. John Sports, Parks and Recreation Department, we are planning to hold a Centennial Community Event on St. John in October 2017. This Centennial Community Event will be held separately from the annual Columbus Day “Just Play” event and our goal is to bring local talent, entertainment, food, crafts and good will to the whole community.

This Centennial “coming together” event is in the beginning stages of planning and we are asking for your support and input in order to make this a truly spectacular event that will bring the community together in fellowship and spirit.

Right now we are looking for help in the following areas:

  • Planning, facilitating and logistics to include space planning, production, staging, permits etc
  • Entertainment- Historical speakers, poets, musicians, dance groups, DJ’s, other talent
  • Food venders (possibly even a “cook off” of some sort)
  • Vendors of local goods, crafts etc
  • Any other ideas that you have to make this event even more special.
