Caribbean Winners Announced for AAF Fourth District 2015 ADDY Awards

ORLANDO, FLORIDA — The American Advertising Federation Fourth District presented the 2015 American Advertising Awards for advertising creative excellence Saturday, May 2nd in Orlando, Florida.

Of the 1,300 entries judged, 80 gold and 165 silver awards were presented in this second tier of the 3-tier national advertising competition. Entries were comprised of top winners from the 21 local clubs across the state of Florida and the Caribbean.

Winners of the District competition move to the final level of competition to vie for National ADDY awards. Entries were judged based on creativity, originality and creative strategy.

Members of the Caribbean Advertising Federation received 16 District Awards: 5 Gold and 11 Silver awards. McCann Port of Spain took 2 Gold and 2 Silver awards for their blink/bmobile “No Words” TV Campaign, TV spot, Music with Lyrics, and Cinematography.

Two special Judges’ Choice awards were presented, one going to Beyond Publishing in Barbados for Illustration Excellence in addition to their Gold award for their Hard Ears Graphic Novel illustrations.

Two local firms won awards. MLB Creative was presented a Gold ADDY for Responsive Website Design for their own website and a Silver ADDY for their Frenchtown Grand Opening Invitation, “It’s Official. We’re Frenchies.” Photographer Steve Simonsen took home a Silver ADDY for The Buccaneer Hotel Cinematography.

Vicki Locke, General Manager of The Buccaneer was pleased to hear of the award.

“We could not be more pleased with the consistently fabulous work the Simonsen’s produce for The Buccaneer.” Locke said. “They have a keen eye, and truly understand the soul of our resort, which is reflected in their success in achieving this prestigious award.”

“Janet and I are honored to win at the District level and be in the company of the likes of Disney and the cruise lines,” added Steve Simonsen. This is a significant achievement for our small family run film and photography company.”

Ross Advertising, Port of Spain won Silver Awards for The National Gas Company newspaper and online work, and for their Rethink digital work. MLB Creative, US Virgin Islands took Gold for their own responsively designed website and Silver for their Grand Opening Invitation. Six Caribbean agencies won single awards.
