Sugar Mille, seen here with her mother, was born over the winter season at Caneel Bay and cared for with devotion by the resort’s horticulturist Oriel Smith.Recently Smith found Sugar Mille dead after she got tangled in a hammock on the property. Several residents have suggested that donations to the St. John Animal Care Center in Sugar Mille’s name would be an ideal way to honor the late beloved donkey.
