Caneel Bay Resort Bids Farewell to Chad Prentice

Chad Prentice

Caneel Bay Resort owners have announced that having enjoyed a long and successful tenure at Caneel Bay, Chad Prentice, director of operations, is leaving to further his career by joining a prestigious resort in Key Biscayne, Fla. In making this decision, Prentice said, “As a native St. Johnian, I feel Caneel Bay represents the very best of Caribbean hospitality, and I have enjoyed my time being part of a dedicated team of professionals, committed to creating outstanding memories for our guests and with a history going back many years of contributing to my community.”

Chad Prentice joined Caneel Bay in March 2006 as assistant front office manager. Due to demonstrating outstanding professionalism, management expertise and for exemplifying high-end service, he achieved successive promotions to become a valued member of the senior management team, fulfilling the roles of guest relations manager, director of housekeeping, retail operations manager and, since 2017, director of operations.

Most significantly, Prentice was on-island during and after the devastation wreaked by hurricanes Irma and Maria in September 2017 and was part of the Caneel Bay team, supporting the local relief efforts, always with a warm smile, kind word and great ability to get a job done. Literally first on the ground to help clear roads on St. John allowing access to other parts of the island, he worked tirelessly with NGOs and federal agencies to provide assistance to local residents.

From involvement in community activities on St. John to staying in-touch with past guests, Prentice represents “the warm heart of Caneel Bay,” and while he is bid a fond farewell and wished much success in his new role, the hope is that once Caneel Bay re-opens, he will come home to St. John and join the executive team in shaping the future of the resort.
