BMV to Conduct ID Saturdays for Residents Without Passports or Driver’s Licenses

Virgin Islands Bureau of Motor Vehicles

During the months of August and September, the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) in each district will conduct special operating hours on limited Saturdays, according to a press release issued Friday by Director Barbara Jackson-McIntosh.

The BMV will conduct ID Saturdays to issue only new IDs to qualified residents who do not have a driver’s license or U.S. Passport.

Jackson-McIntosh said, “The ID Saturdays goal is to aid members of the community to obtain an ID. As we are in the midst of the hurricane season, it is critical that community members are prepared in case of a disaster.”

ID Saturdays will take place in the St. Thomas and St. Croix offices between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on three consecutive Saturdays: Aug. 31, Sept. 7 and Sept. 14. On St. John ID Saturdays will be held between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Sept. 7 and Sept. 14. The director further encourages individuals without driver’s licenses or passports to take advantage of this opportunity.

To secure a Real ID or Non-Real ID customers must provide one proof of lawful status, an original Social Security Card, and two proofs of a physical address. The cost to obtain a Real-ID card is $55 for adults or children. The cost of a non-Real-ID card is $35 for adults and $15 for children.

Jackson-McIntosh reminds the public that the BMV website contains all the necessary information that is needed to access the BMV services. Forms are PDF fillable and downloadable and contain detailed instructions and the steps that must be followed to make the process very smooth, simple and fast.

The public can access the BMV website at www.bmv.vi.gov; forms are included under the FORMS tabs. For further information or clarification, call the bureau offices at 713-4268 on St. Croix, 776-6262 on St. John or 774-4268 on St. Thomas.
